Zumper, a San Francisco Start-up, mapped rents throughout Austin by neighborhood, the Austin Business Journal reports. Downtown had the most expensive median rent with $1,913 for a one-bedroom.
While that's a lot for Austin, one bedroom apartments in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan are $4,270 and Russian Hill in San Francisco is $3,830, making Austin seem like a bargain.
Austin comes in at number 21 in the nation for the monthly median rates of $1,030 for a one-bedroom and $1,380 for a two-bedroom. After downtown, East Cesar Chavez Street has the second highest rent at $1,589 monthly.
The best deal close to downtown can be found in Windsor Park southeast of 1-35 and U.S. Highway 290 where the median lease rate is $739 a month.
