Wells Branch Schools and Employers

This month we’re spotlighting the Wells Branch Neighborhood of Austin, Texas.  This week, we’ll be exploring the schools and employers in this area just north of Austin.

Wells Branch children attend one of two elementary schools.  The Recognized Wells Branch Elementary School is located in Round Rock ISD and Northwest Elementary School is part of Pflugerville ISD.  Children at Wells Branch elementary go on to Chisholm Trail Middle School or Deerpark Middle School and McNeil High School.  All three schools are ranked Recognized by the TEA.  Children at Northwest Elementary go on to Westview Middle School and Connelly High School.  

There are many employers that are a convenient commute from the Wells Branch area.  These include Dell, Inc., a global computer manufacturer and seller that employs over 100,000 people across the globe.  Michael Dell famously started the company in his dorm room at the University of Texas and for years the joke was that the janitor at Dell was probably a millionaire because of his stock options.  The company was recently sold and it remains to be seen what effect this will have on its operations in Round Rock.

Another employer nearby is Fry’s Electronics, a retail seller for bargain basement priced computer software and hardware and electronics.  Fry’s main competitor is Best Buy, but they set themselves apart from this other popular electronics store by selling all the parts needed to assemble your own computer.  As a result, Fry’s is popular with tech geeks as well as the consumer just looking for a deal on an already assembled computer.
