Live Nation will host national touring concerts at the Amphitheater being built at the Circuit of the Americas, Statesman.com reports. Circuit of the Americas is the Formula One racetrack.
The
amphitheater will have 15,000 seats and will be home to concerts by
national touring acts primarily during the summer. It is expected to be
completed by next spring. The seating will be general admission on the
grass and there will also be space for 6,500 reserved seats. The stage
will be covered, but the seating will all be open air. The space was
designed by Austin's Miro Rivera Architects and is the largest
amphitheater in Central Texas.
The venue will be called the Tower
Amphitheater because it has a 22-story steel structure that will have an
observation deck that can look out over the circuit and the
amphitheater.
While Live Nation, a company from California, will
be in charge of booking, marketing, concert-promotion and day-to-day
operations, the owners of the racetrack say the agreement with Live
Nation gives them freedom to work with C3 if they want to. C3 is the
local Austin promoter responsible for Austin City Limits Festival, as
well as many other events both locally and nationally.
