Hotel Rooms are Scarce on F1 Weekend

Hotel rooms from San Antonio to Waco are filling up quickly as attendees of the Formula One race in November make their travel plans, Statesman.com reports.  More than 200 hotels around Central Texas are already fully occupied, despite the fact that many of them have quadrupled their rates.
A great deal of the recent demand is due to the fact that some of the F1 race tickets went on sale recently.  It is possible that some of the full hotels actually held some blocks of rooms back from booking for the race.  F1 spokespeople have said that approximately 4,500 rooms are necessary for those affiliated with the event, from drivers and crew to members of the media.

Demand is also up for vacation home rentals, according to the VP of Home Away.com.  He reports that inquiries are about 25 times what they normally see.  He recommends that people book sooner rather than later.  The inventory will get even smaller which will cause rates to rise even higher.

Of course, if you're willing to make the trek from Marble Falls or New Braunfels, you can still land a deal.  Happy racing!
